Taylor Swift Handles Wardrobe Malfunction Like a Pro During Eras Tour Concert in Tampa Bay

Taylor Swift proved that even a costume malfunction couldn’t stop her from putting on an unforgettable show during her Eras Tour concert at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. The 12-time Grammy winner experienced a garter crisis while performing “Lavender Haze” but quickly bounced back and handled the situation in style.

A TikTok video shared by a fan account shows Swift walking towards her background singers during the performance and lifting the hem of her sequin Oscar de la Renta T-shirt dress to reveal that the belt around her leg had snapped off. Despite the setback, Swift kept her cool and continued with the performance. She mouthed a few words to the singers and nodded to the song’s lyric, “I end up in crisis (tale as old as time),” while throwing her arm up.

Swift’s sparkly garter belt is a staple of the midnight portion of her setlist. During the segment, she switches out her oversize one-piece for a blue Zuhair Murad bodysuit that fully shows off the garter belt for songs like “Bejeweled,” “Vigilante S—,” and the finale track “Karma.”

Thursday’s show marked Swift’s return to the stadium stage after news broke of her split with actor Joe Alwyn earlier this month. Although the couple mostly kept their six-year relationship hidden from the public eye, a source confirmed on April 8 that they had gone their separate ways. While the separation was reportedly caused by “differences in their personalities,” reps for Swift and Alwyn have not commented on the breakup.

Despite the breakup, Swift remained upbeat and welcomed the crowd between songs, saying, “We have a lot to catch up on.” She also brought out Aaron Dessner, her frequent collaborator, and member of the National, for the live debut of “The Great War” at the concert’s second show at the Raymond James Stadium.

Dessner, who was spotted in attendance by fans at the previous night’s show, joined Swift on stage to play the Midnights: 3 am Edition track during the acoustic “Surprise Songs” portion of the setlist. After being introduced by Swift, Dessner addressed the crowd, saying, “Everybody’s watching the greatest performer on Earth do the greatest show of all time.” Swift even joked that “The Great War” took on a new meaning when the song described the battle fans endured trying to buy tickets for The Eras Tour.

Following “The Great War,” Swift also gave the live debut of another Midnight track, “You’re on Your Own, Kid.” Despite the garter mishap, Swift proved once again that she is a consummate professional and can handle anything that comes her way with grace and style.
